It is our pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Daryl Tarr, of DT Professional Home Watch Service.
We go away for the winter and have always had to rely on friends and family to do regular house checks. We do not like to do this as the obligation has become onerous plus when something goes wrong, friends and family have not always had the skill set to problem solve the situation.
Daryl was very dependable. He was always on time for meetings. He was very quick to respond to phone calls and emails. He was also very willing to be at the house to provide entry and supervise (if required) any trades people that entered the premises. He would also move timed lights around the house just to make the place look a little more lived in.
Daryl offers a wide variety of services (including shoveling snow!) and will customize his service to suit your needs. Daryl checked our home, collected our mail when it is not forwarded, and identified potential emergencies or problems. We found him to be very flexible, service-oriented, and problem solving individual.
This year we had problems with our heating and security systems. Daryl described the issues to us (including photographs), we made one phone call to the service company (although he offered to), and then he followed up to make sure the work was done and our home was safe.
We feel we get remarkable service at a very reasonable price. Please contact us should you have any questions about DT Professional Home Watch. We will continue to use them each year and have passed out their cards to a number of our friends who need a similar service.

Daryl has looked after our extensive gardens twice while we have been away. He was very methodical about learning exactly what different plants required for care and was willing to take on our rather steep desert garden. Holiday Season is soon approaching again -last year we were fortunate to have met Daryl Tarr and were pleased to use his services while we were away for 6 weeks. I would highly recommend Daryl. We now had someone to stop in and make sure the house was still operational and all was still good--heat on- no water leaks and no un authorized visitors. We have used DT Professional Home Watch Service Inc. for the past three years.
Before we depart on a trip, we confirm the inspection frequency with Daryl. He is very diligent in following the schedule. In fact, based on the alerts we get from our automated security system, he has yet to miss a day. He does a good job of keeping the driveway clear of snow too. Our neighbours have commented that they thought we were home as Daryl is so quick to clear snow.
Besides making regular security checks, Daryl will perform small tasks to keep the house in good condition, such as watering the plants. We arrange for these services with him beforehand.
Last winter on one of his inspections, Daryl noticed that the house was unusually cold. He contacted us right away and offered to arrange for a heating contractor to check the furnace, to which we agreed. It turned out that the furnace had failed. Daryl made several extra trips to the house to let the contractor in, stayed there while the repair work was done, and returned several times to make sure that the repairs had been successful. His fees for this additional service were very reasonable.
