VACATION CHECKLIST

check For peace of mind while you travel, call DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc. and let us know who your insurance company is. We will let you know what your "away" requirements are to keep your insurance valid.
check Hire DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc. to ensure your insurance requirements will be met.
check Advise DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc. of your departure and return dates/times.
check Leave house key and trip itinerary with DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc.
check If you have a security system, set up a separate access code for DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc.
checkAdvise a neighbour that DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc. will be checking your home, and provide your neighbour with our telephone number.
check Arrange for extra services like care of pets, lawn mowing, snow removal and hot tub or pool maintenance with DT professional Home Watch Services Inc. We will water your plants at no extra charge.
check Remove perishables from the refrigerator so that if there is a power outage, you do not end up with a mess or, worse, an appliance that will need to be replaced. DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc. can stock your refrigerator on the day that you are returning home.
checkEmpty bread box, potato bin, etc. of perishable foods.
check Dispose of any garbage and if you forget just inform DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc. of your scheduled garbage pick-up day/time and we will handle it for you.
check Turn off exterior water taps
check Eliminate possible fire hazards by unplugging appliances, etc.
check Unplug electronics that could be damaged by a power surge.
checkMake sure that your washer and dryer are empty.
check Save money on heating by turning down the thermostat in the winter to between 10 C - 16 C
check In the summer months turn off your water heater.
check Keep heating and air-conditioning systems on to prevent damage from frozen pipes in cold weather and mold in hot weather.
check Turn off or unplug your answering machine if it will not be in use.
check If you chose to leave your answering machine on you should check your messages regularly or have DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc. do that for you.
check Your message should say that you are "unable to come to the telephone", and NOT that "you are away".
check Return important messages to reinforce the idea that your home is not vacant.
check Clear off non-important messages to help ensure that the answering system will not inform callers that the message mailbox is "full".
check Suspend cable or satellite and internet services. Ensure wireless internet and computers are turned off.
check Remember to call DT Professional Home Watch Services Inc. after you have left to make sure that one thing that you forgot to do before you left, gets done.
